Checking in for your trip

Check-in starts the trip, and it is also your protection: the photos you take are the record of how the car looked before you drove it.

When it opens

The check-in button on your trip becomes available 24 hours before your scheduled start. Before that it is greyed out and shows the time it opens.

What has to be true first

• Every additional driver you added has finished their own verification.
• Your license and insurance on file are still current.
• The security deposit hold has gone through on your card.

If any of those is outstanding, check-in tells you which one.

The walkaround

The guided scan steps you through 14 shots: front, rear, both sides, all four corners, all four wheels, the dashboard, and the odometer. An outline on screen shows you where to stand for each one. It takes about two minutes.

Then record the mileage and the fuel level, and add notes about anything you can already see. If you shot the guided scan, its photos and odometer reading carry into your report automatically.

Your host does their own report separately. Both sets are kept.

At the end of the trip

You take the same 14 shots at return. They are compared against the before photos, and anything that looks new is flagged for your host to confirm or dismiss. If they raise something, you get to respond before any money moves.
