Paying for your trip

What you actually pay, how the security deposit hold works, and where refunds and receipts show up.

What makes up your trip total

Your total is the host's price for your dates, plus any delivery and add-ons you chose, plus tax. FanCars adds no renter service fee.

Payment methods

You pay by card at checkout. The same card covers your deposit hold, any extension, and post-trip charges, so keep it valid until the trip is settled.

Security deposits

Every trip carries a refundable security deposit: your own insurance deductible plus $500. FanCars sets it, not the host, and it is a hold rather than a charge.

Refunds

Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within 5 to 10 business days. How much comes back depends on why the trip changed.

How FanScore changes your price

FanScore is a driver safety rating from 300 to 850. Scores in the middle pay the host's plain rate, higher scores pay less, and lower scores pay more.

Credits and promo codes

Credits sit on your account and come off your next trip total automatically. A promo code goes in at checkout; a referral code is redeemed in your account.

Receipts and invoices

Once a trip is finished or canceled, View receipt on its card opens an itemized receipt you can print or save as a PDF.
