What makes up your trip total

You pay the host's price. FanCars does not add a renter service fee on top of it.

The lines on your total

• The car. The daily rate for each day of the trip, or hours times the hourly rate on an hourly booking. Weekends, holidays, and days the host priced by hand can cost more, and the breakdown shows every day.
• Long trip discounts. Where the host offers them, seven days or more can earn a weekly discount and 28 days or more a monthly one.
• A driver safety adjustment. Your FanScore can move the price up or down. It appears as its own line.
• Delivery. One fee for pickup, and a second one for the return if you drop the car somewhere else.
• Add-ons. Extras the host offers, priced per day or per trip.
• Tax, where it applies.
• Credits and promo codes come off the bottom.

What is not in the total

The security deposit is a separate refundable hold on your card, not money you pay. Your included mileage sits under the total, with the per mile rate if you go over it.

Charges that can come later

Fuel returned below the level you picked up at, miles over the allowance, and late returns are billed after the trip. Fuel has an eighth of a tank of slack before anything is charged. Each charge lands on your trip page with 72 hours to dispute it before it is collected.
