Credits and promo codes

Where credits come from

Credits are issued when a trip issue is resolved in your favor, when a trip is interrupted and no replacement car can be found, and when someone redeems your referral code. They live on your account, not on one trip.

Spending them

Credits are applied automatically at checkout. The amount used shows in the price breakdown and again on your receipt. Credits reduce the trip total. They are never applied to the security deposit hold.

Promo codes

A promo code goes in the promo field at checkout. It is checked before you pay, so you see the discount in the total before you confirm.

Referral codes

A referral code is redeemed in the Credits and referrals section of your account, not at checkout. Redeeming turns it into credit, which then comes off your next trip. The same section shows the code you can hand out. When someone redeems yours, you both get credit straight away, before either of you books anything. A code works once per person, and you cannot redeem your own.

If a booking falls through

If a booking is canceled before any money is taken, credits you had spent on it go back to your account. Once a payment has been captured, the refund is what you get back and the credit stays spent.
