Messaging your host
Open your trip from Trips and the conversation with your host is right there on the trip page. Send the first message and your host gets an email about it, plus a browser notification if they have turned those on.
Before your trip
Hosts answer the things a listing cannot: where exactly to park, which entrance to meet at, whether the car takes premium fuel, how the alarm works. If you booked delivery, confirm the exact spot and time the day before.
Some hosts set up messages that send automatically at points in a trip, so a check-in note that arrives on its own is normal.
Sending photos
The box on the trip page takes text only. For photos or video, open the same conversation from your Inbox, where a message can carry attachments.
During the trip
Keep it in the thread rather than moving to text messages. What is written here is visible to both of you, and it is what our team reads if there is a question later.
Anything that changes money or timing (a later return, a different address, extra days) should be proposed from the trip page rather than just discussed, so the new price is agreed properly.
If your host goes quiet
Give it a few hours. If your trip starts soon and you have heard nothing, open a case from support and we will step in.
