Late returns and extra charges
Running late
There is a one hour grace past your scheduled return time. After that, each started late day is billed at 1.5 times the car's daily rate for that day, up to a maximum of 14 days. Your trip page shows when the car was due and how far past that you are, and both you and your host get told.
The trip stays open until the return is recorded, which means your deposit hold stays in place too.
If you know you will be late, request an extension from your trip page instead. An approved extension is priced per day at the car's normal rate for those days and stops the late charges. Extensions are not offered on hourly bookings.
Charges after a trip
Extra charges land on your trip page as pending, and you get an email when one is issued. The usual ones are mileage overage, fuel, late return, cleaning, and damage.
Disputing one
Every charge carries a 72 hour dispute window, shown on the charge itself. Open the charge on your trip page, tap to dispute it, and write why you disagree. That opens a case with its own number and our team reviews it before anything is collected. Once the window closes, the charge can be collected.
Do not go to your bank first. A bank dispute freezes your security deposit and hands the decision to the bank, which usually takes weeks.
