Switching to a different car
Who can propose a swap
A host can offer a different car of theirs, which is common when the booked one develops a problem. You can also ask for one of that host's other cars from the trip page. Either way, the other side has to accept before anything changes.
What it costs
The swap is priced on what is left of the trip.
- A cheaper car refunds you the difference.
- A pricier car costs the difference, shown before you accept.
- A host offering an upgrade can choose to cover the increase, and then it reaches you as no extra charge.
Deciding
The proposal shows up on your trip page and in your email with the car, the reason given, and the price effect. Accept and the trip moves over with its dates and locations intact. Decline and the trip stays as booked. Proposals expire after 24 hours, or when the trip ends if that comes first.
If no swap works
When the car is unusable and none of the host's other cars fit, report the issue from the trip page instead. That path can offer replacement cars from other hosts, a partial refund, or a credit.
