Changing your email address

Making the change

Go to your account, find Email under your personal details, and choose Change. Enter the new address and your current password. If you have only ever signed in with Google, set a password first with Forgot password on the sign-in page.

Two emails go out

• The new address gets a confirmation link. Nothing changes until it is used.
• The old address gets a notice with a link to block the change. If the request was not you, that link stops it.

Both links expire after 24 hours. If they lapse, start again.

The once a month limit

An account email can only be changed once every 30 days. Ask sooner and we tell you the date you can next change it.

Things that will stop it

• The current password you entered does not match.
• Another FanCars account already uses the address you asked for.

While a change is pending

Your account shows the pending address and everything keeps working on the old one. Sign in with the old address until you confirm the new one. Once you confirm, sign in with the new address, and we email you to say it changed.
