FanFax vehicle history reports

FanFax is free. There is nothing to buy, and you can run it as often as you like.

Running a report

Open a car in your Garage and choose Run FanFax. The car needs its VIN first, since every record is looked up against that exact vehicle.

Official records land within seconds: the federal VIN decode (engine, drivetrain, body, plant), safety recalls for that make, model and year, and EPA fuel economy figures. Title, theft and odometer records show up when they are available for the car.

The research half usually takes a few minutes. It reads public sources for that VIN and builds a dated history. You can close the tab. We email you when the report is ready.

What the report covers

• An overview: headline finding, risk level, estimated number of owners, title status
• A dated timeline of sales, registrations, incidents, recalls and service
• Accident history with damage areas and severity
• Recalls, marked open or remedied where the record says so
• Past listings, auction results, and forum or social mentions of the car
• Tickets and violations recorded against the vehicle
• Known common problems for that generation and engine
• Every source behind the report, so you can check the work

A section that comes back empty is good news, not missing data.

After it lands

Print the report from the report page, or run it again later to pick up anything new. Old reports stay readable.
